    Need more, or less data?

Every upfront mobile and data plan can have their plan size changed once a month (either increasing your plan or decreasing your plan). You can change your plans in My Telstra.

If you increase your data allowance - Your higher data allowance starts right away, and you don’t pay anything extra. Your new increased price will take effect on your next monthly payment date.

If you decrease your data allowance – Your lower data allowance will start from your next monthly payment date. At 6pm (AEST), the day before your next monthly payment date, your data allowance will change to the smaller plan that you’ve selected. You will receive this lower allowance for a 6hr period (6pm – midnight AEST) and at midnight, your allowance will reset again next month (to the smaller plan size / data allowance that you selected). You may receive some SMS notifications during this period to let you know that your data allowance has been changed.

Data Sharing is automatically included with any upfront mobile or data services that are on the same account. You can share your data allowance between up to 10 upfront mobile or data plans on the same account.

You don't need to do anything to get data sharing, it will automatically be included. You can't remove data sharing as it is a standard feature on our upfront plans.

If your data is running low, you can:

    • Increase the data allowance on one or more of your upfront plans in My Telstra. This increased data allowance will be added to your shared pool of data almost immediately and you don't pay anything extra today. Your new increased price will take effect on your next monthly payment date.
    • Rest easy knowing that you won't be charged excess data charges for usage in Australia. Once you've exceeded your shared data allowance in Australia, all services will still have access to data at speeds of up to 1.5mpbs.

If you disconnect or cancel one of the services, the data allowance of that service will be deducted from the overall allowance of data immediately.

Your data allowance will reset on the same date each month.

You can view your data allowance, including data usage of individual services, in My Telstra.

The only way to pay for your upfront services is via AutoPay. With AutoPay, you set up automatic upfront monthly payments using your nominated credit card, debit card or bank account. When you sign up or switch to a new upfront plan, you will be required to provide your AutoPay details during the order - these details will then be saved as your default AutoPay details for each upcoming month.

Each month (on the same date), the monthly cost of your upfront plan will be paid via your saved AutoPay details. Your monthly payment date will be the same date each month, unless your payment is due on a date that isn’t in every month (e.g. 31st), it will be paid the following day.

Once your auto payment has been made, you’ll receive an SMS link to view your digital receipt. You can also view this receipt (and past receipts) in My Telstra.

    Important:

You won't receive a bill for upfront plans. Because you know upfront what the cost of your plan is each month, you won't receive a bill for any upfront plans.

You can view upcoming charges and payment dates for your account (1 month in advance) in My Telstra so you'll always know what will be paid, and when.

    In My Telstra, you can:

    • Check your upcoming charges and payment dates
    • Update your payment details
    • View and download your invoices

You won’t be charged any transaction fees or late fees when paying by AutoPay.

You could be eligible to change to an upfront plan yourself. To find out whether you're eligible to switch to the new upfront mobile and data plan, check in My Telstra.
