    How does the Telstra Smart Wi-Fi Booster work?

    The Telstra Smart Wi-Fi Booster works with your Telstra Smart Modem Gen 3, Gen 2 and 1.1 to give you better Wi-Fi coverage in low-signal areas of your home or office. It does this by picking up your modem’s Wi-Fi signal and boosting it to fill in ‘dead spots’, letting you connect to the internet in more places around your home or office. 


    How do I know if I have a Telstra Smart Modem Gen 3, Gen 2 or 1.1?

    Look on the back or base of your modem and if one of the following model numbers is shown, you have a modem that is compatible with the Telstra Smart Wi-Fi Booster:

    • Cobra XH
    • DJA 0230
    • DJA 0231
    • LH 1000

    How do I manage my Telstra Smart Wi-Fi Booster in My Telstra?

    Sign in to My Telstra and go to Services. Choose your internet service and select Extras.

    Frequently asked questions

    Once you’ve completed the set-up, you can move your paired Telstra Smart Wi-Fi Booster to any room you’re experiencing Wi-Fi issues. You can unplug the booster and move it to another room with a spare power point.

    Try to set up your booster halfway between the modem and point in house with poorest Wi-Fi.

    Make sure you're connected to the Telstra Smart Wi-Fi Booster’s Wi-Fi connection, then;

    1. In any web browser, enter: http://192.168.0.1/
    2. Sign in to the control panel. The username is admin and the default password is Telstra for Telstra Smart Modem 1.1 and Gen 2. For Telstra Smart Modem Gen 3, the password is the same as the Wi-Fi password found on the bottom of your modem.
    3. Select Wi-Fi Boosters
    4. Go to the LED option
    5. Select the desired brightness. (For best results, we suggest choosing Dim.)
    6. Click Save to save the setting and adjust the LED brightness on all the Wi-Fi boosters in the network
    7. Sign out  and close the browser window.

    The lights on your Telstra Smart Wi-Fi Booster can help keep you informed about the status of your Wi-Fi connection during set-up.  Once connected, the LED light should be a solid blue.

    Or you can check the status of your connection by entering http://192.168.0.1/ in your browser and signing in. The username is admin and the default password is Telstra for Telstra Smart Modem Gen 2 and 1.1. For the Telstra Smart Modem Gen 3, the password is the same as the Wi-Fi password found on the bottom of your modem. 

    When the light on the booster shows:

    • Purple: The software is updating, pairing or starting up.
      Wait 5 minutes for the light to turn solid blue. If the purple start-up light does not change colour, turn the power off at the wall, wait 30 seconds and turn it back on to complete updates
    • Blue: The set-up has been successful. You have a strong connection back to your Telstra Smart Modem
    • Amber: A poor signal.
      The booster is too far away from the modem. Simply move the booster closer to the modem until you get a solid blue light. This step may involve some trial and error until you find the right spot
    • Red: No connection to the modem.
      Turn the power off at the wall, wait 30 seconds and turn it back on again to complete updates. If the red light reappears, repeat steps 1–6 from the set-up process to pair the modem with the booster.
    • No Light: No power source or the booster is not switched on. Check that the power adapter is plugged in to a working power point and is switched on.
